Even if we were chasing shadows, our minds were made up. We’d realized along the way that choice was the only thing we had left. Maybe we’d fall short. Maybe we’d never even come close. But, someone, someday, would know we tried.
I’m sorry, I almost had a panic attack because I thought that Mulder had raped Scully, and that thought would make me nope out of this fandom so fucking hard.
No, it’s okay, you’re fine. I was worried too when I saw the pic but I did read the article and it still makes me mad. It’s not as bad as I feared when I saw that pic, but it’s still bad. Because essentially what happened is that Scully gets raped and Mulder has to watch. Which okay, if there going for scary That it, they’ve won, that’s about as scary as you can get. But I just know the actual implications of that are going to go completely glossed over.
Thing is, they could have revealed that Mulder was infected in million other ways, did they have to do it in a way that is so damaging to one of the most iconic, strong female characters in science fiction?
They could play it as, ‘oh Mulder had control over his body then’ but if he did I’m pretty sure his first response would be to let Scully know whats going on. I just…. As a comic fan, I hear about and/or read this sort of thing happening all the time and I’m so sick of it (Like what happened with The Falcon recently for instance).
Great. Now I’m in a fucking terrible ass mood. I was really excited and now I’m filled with dread.
Why the Opening Scene of The X-Files #14 is Not OK (Hint: It’s Rape)
Ever since writer Joe Harris tweeted a rather risqué panel from an issue of The X-Files: Season 10 late last week, the X-Files fan community has been abuzz with excitement. The panel shows Scully, wearing seemingly nothing but one of Mulder’s shirts thrown haphazardly on, knelt over Mulder in bed and pointing a gun in his face while he in turn remarks on how he is “more of a cuddler post-coitus” and suggesting that “sexy gunplay” isn’t really something that suits them.
This then appears to be the fun, sexy X-Files bedroom scene I have dreamed of seeing for over 15 years; but then looks can be deceiving. What we are actually viewing is the aftermath of a rape. [X]
Before you guys jump the gun, please read this article. I’m actually pretty angry and disgusted by this.
Oh Fucking Hell. I really like this comic so far why the fuck do the writers/artists got to throw this shit in there? Or in any comic! i GET SO MAD WHEN THIS SORT OF SHIT IS PULLED LIKE STOP USING RAPE AS A QUICK PLOT DEVICE TO GLOSS OVER OR DEPICTING IT AS SEXY OR FUCKING ugh. fucking shit.
like i heard the story plot for this most recent arc a few days ago and was really excited! because ! Black oil ! Cool! It’s back! Shit Mulder’s infected! I’m excited! DON’T FUCKING USE THAT FOR THIS KINDA SHIT. fUCKING NO.
#why is this on best of funny #this is legitimately powerful #this is a reminder that we can fight back against unfair systems #technology has empowered us #by providing witnesses #the world is watching #we can force consequences on our oppressors now #in a way that wasn’t possible even twenty years ago #we don’t have to wait for the media #we don’t have to convince the media #we can be the media #les amis de l’abaissés (@grassthatchedhut)
Hashtag Film The Police
#this is why I don’t pay mind to people whining that technology has dumbed us down #it’s given us so much power in so many ways #and so many people are afraid of what that means for them #their actions can be scrutinized #marginalized people can form safe spaces and discuss things and organize together #we can expose people so quickly and so easily #so nah dude fuck that dumbing down rhetoric #more like ‘technology makes me insecure about my status and behavior’
I so rarely reblog things that have the commentary in tags like this (the hashtags annoy me) but oh my, this is a super powerful gif and so true.
